💄 My April Sample Choice Birchbox Review 💋

My April review of Birchbox -The sample choice stay tuned for the curated box review as well.

Birchbox is $10 a month beauty subscription. Check out my other reviews of Birchbox and Others to learn more about there monthly beauty subscription boxes!

These were the items in my box:

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish™ Hot Cloth Cleanser 1 oz Starter Kit: The ultra-soft cotton muslin cloth and gentle, creamy cleanser work together to give us soft, smooth, and radiant-looking complexions. The cleanser removes dirt, makeup, and grime with eucalyptus essential oil and rosemary, plus it hydrates with cocoa butter, while the cloth exfoliates, sweeping away dull, dead skin cells. This kit comes with a sleek zip-up bag for easy storage and transport, so you can always have a healthy glow wherever you are.

Liz Earle

I have VERY sensitive skin and usually use Aveeno. I got to try out the Liz Earle cream cleanser with the muslin cloth when it came in my Birchbox this month. I will tell you that not only did my face NOT break out… But my skin felt velvety soft and smooth! So worth the price of $24 for a 3.3 oz bottle, I will be buying it. You should definitely try this smoothing facial cleaners . This sample is valued at about $7.80.

amika Nourishing Mask:

When it comes to hair health, split ends and dryness are two of our worst enemies. Fight both with this nourishing, all-natural hair mask from amika. Packed with sea buckthorn berry (which is chock-full of omegas 3, 6, 9, and 7 and vitamins C and E) and jojoba oil. Best of all, it’s free of parabens and other unwanted chemicals that have no place near your head. I found this to leave my hair soft and smooth. I loved the way my hair felt just after one use! This sample was just 0.7 oz I have very short hair so a quarter sized amount was enough. So I should be able to get 2 more uses out of it. Now even though my hair felt really soft and silky I don’t think I would pay $28 for 8 oz. I don’t think I will be buying this this sample is valued at about $2.35.

Davines LOVE Smoothing Shampoo – For Coarse/Frizzy Hair

This gentle shampoo is specially formulated to tame frizzed-out and tangle-prone hair. It’s an infusion of olive extract from Minuta olives grown in Messina, Italy it nourishes and enriches hair with fatty acids, vitamin E, and polyphenols. The first thing I noticed was that it really smelled GREAT! My hair is really curly, but very dry and damaged and after 1 use it felt like it stripped too much of my oils or something. I didn’t like the texture of my hair afterwards, it made it feel rough and drier than normal. If you used the shampoo you definitely need to follow up with their conditioner. I won’t be buying this shampoo this sample is valued at about $11.00.

Davines LOVE Smoothing Conditioner -For Coarse/Frizzy Hair

The creamy concoction calms frizz and loosens tangles, making your whole hairstyling process a lot simpler. It’s formulated with olive extract from Minuta olives grown on a family farm in Messina, Italy, which infuses strands with fatty acids, vitamin E, and antioxidants. Along with trying the shampoo I liked the way the product smelled but I’m not going to purchase it. The shampoo felt very drying, and rough but the conditioner did make it super soft afterwards. Just didn’t cut it for me, and the price is really high for the results. I won’t be buying this conditioner this sample is valued at about $2.00.

ModelCo Lip Enhancer Illusion Lip Liner:

“Color outside the lines” is great as a life philosophy as ModelCo says. As an approach to lip color? Not so much. Keep your lipstick from wandering with this nourishing soft wax pencil. The neutral shade works with every lip color in your collection while making your lips look fuller and more defined. I just love this nude lip liner! I find it does enhance my lips making them look like the perfect shape. This is the best liner that actually stays on my lips as well as looking natural with a slight pinkish hue. This matched almost everything shade of lipstick I have worn and that it kept my lipstick from feathering. It’s worth paying $20 for the full size liner. I will be buying this in the future this sample is valued at about $10.00.

This Works -Deep Sleep Pillow Spray:

This deep sleep pillow spray is packed with 100% pure essential oils, including calming lavender, patchouli, and chamomile all of which work together to lull us to sleep faster and help us wake up feeling more refreshed. A best-selling, natural sleep aid that will fragrance your bed and calm the nerves to help you see faster. I struggle with falling and staying asleep. This spray I would say that it worked. I noticed that my sleep was noticeably better, and I didn’t wake up as often through the night. But I will say that the smell is kinda of strong if you spray too much, so a little does go a long way. I will be buying this when it runs out this sample is valued at about $2.00.

I got this as a bonus lucky me for re-subscribing to Birchbox as a free gift.

Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Matte Eyes Mini

Mesmerizing eyes are so much more than mascara—and no one knows that better than the makers of this travel-friendly shadow kit. The eight must-have neutral matte shades can all be used as a liner, shadow, and brow definer, while two base shades provide the perfect blank canvas. Each of the 8 matte shades in this mini-matte collection is a multitasker—from stay-put shadows that double as liner to brow powders that also work as shadows. Can I say JACKPOT, I am in 😍💜 this is one awesome gift for renewing my subscription. I will be buying this when I’m done with it this full size palette is valued at about $25.00.

March Sephora Play Review

My March review of @sephora play 📦 box my favorite 💌 monthly subscriptions 📬 I pretty much loved all of it! This month’s theme “GLOW YOUR OWN WAY”

@ateliercologneparis: Easy to wear, Atelier Cologne Absolute fragrances are concentrated at 15 percent pure perfume and designed to offer outstanding lasting power and character to Cologne lovers. The scent was #divineclementine perfumes/ 🤳🏻 colognes give me headaches so to be honest I didn’t smell it. The notes are of Clementine, Mandarin, Juniper Berries, Star Anise, Sichuan Pepper, Basilica, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Cypress more of a fruity, green, sweet.

@glamglow: A hydrating, super-charged cream with iridescent illuminating pearl particles to blur, reflect, and enhance your complexion for an instant luminous finish.  Best solutions for – Dryness – Dullness and uneven texture #glowstarter illuminating moisturizer I 😍 loved it!!!

@benefitcosmetics: Bestselling highlighter defines facial features with a luminous, soft-focus sheen and an easy-to-apply cream-to-powder formula. Watt’s Up! Cream-to-powder highlighter I really liked I’m not into highlighters but this is perfect for a 💃 night out on the town.

@josiemarancosmetics: Game-changing makeup and skin care hybrid primes and finishes with a whipped formula for a luminous, ethereal effect. Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm was perfect I used before I applied any type of makeup and it gave me a soft feel.

@urbandecaycosmetics: A 24-hour wear, nude eye shadow primer that ensures vibrant, crease-free wear. This primer keeps your eye shadow crease-free while making color more vibrant and providing a smoother application. There’s no need to review since I live and breathe urban decay products. BUT… I love this, I have oily eye lids this helps with eye shadows, and my eye liners.

verb@verbproducts: A vanishing daily restorative that revitalizes hair from roots to ends. Key benefits: – Treats damaged hair – Controls frizz – Adds shine. The ghost oil felt nice, but it’s more for straight hair, versus my curly  mess.

All in all this was a 2nd good box, the waiting list was so well worth it for $10 a month. Are you signed up? Did you get the same stuff?? Comment below and let me know!

March Ipsy Glambag Review

I know I am so late, I posted it on my Instagram but I have been really busy with a new job, so I’m just now catching up.

INT Cosmetics Eyeshadow; Color: Goddess Gold The formula is crazy pigmented, so a little goes a long way. You can also use it as a highlighter just dabbed on the inner corners of your eyes or along cheekbones. Nothing special about this eye shadow looks just like the other colors I get from Ipsy just had a slight rose color to it, but barely noticeable. One good thing you can use it as a highlighter as well.

Tarte Cosmetics Tarteist™ Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint; Color: Delish -Vegan-friendly, a precision applicator makes it easy to apply. Velvet matte is perfect neither too matte nor too glossy. Add an extra coat changes the look and pumps up the color dramatically. I really love this matte lip paint, it was perfect, not glossy at all, and it wasn’t dry or extra matte looking at all. The color was also perfect!

ModelCo Eye Define Retractable Crayon Liner; Color: Black -This inky, jet black formula glides on gorgeously and ends up with perfect lines every time—no tugging or dragging. This long-wearing, water-resistant formula didn’t smudge, budge, or transfer. Okay this eyeliner I must say it was not smooth going on, it was dry and I had to warm it up slightly to get it to go on smoothly. It does stay put, and won’t smudge till a certain extent. It wasn’t until the end of the day that I noticed it starting to run in the corners a little

PÜR Cosmetics Disappearing Ink 4-in-1 Concealer; Color: Medium -This has a unique “Diamond Complex” to reflect light away from imperfections. Also full of good-for-your-skin ingredients. There’s no need for multiple concealers; this is equally as good at hiding dark circles, pimples, spots, you name it. This was okay it wasn’t better that It cosmetics illuminator but it also wasn’t worse. I would say that it was maybe a step under it, only because I could still see my dark circles slightly versus the one from It Cosmetics.

Infusium Infusium Repair + Renew Smoothing Serum with Argan Oil + Keratin; Argan oil hydrates and smooths. A quick science lesson: Hair is largely made of a protein called keratin, and this serum contains lots of it (to help strengthen hair). I’ve noticed a huge difference in my hair, I am in love. They have been making my curls so much softer, and manageable.

So this month I liked my Glambag, the 4 in 1 concealer was ok I love trying out concealers to see which one works best. The Infusium repair and renew serum it’s too early to tell whether or not it’s doing any difference but only time will tell. I did love the Matte lip color it was perfect, not too glossy or dry. The eye shadow seems to match almost like the others I have received, and the eyeliner yes it does stay put smudges just a tad bit after a long day at work. BUT it doesn’t slide on smoothly like it says it does.

Ipsy February Review

Luna By Luna Cosmetics Highlighter: Color; Calypso -Calypso is a baked highlighter with purple and grey undertones. The pale lavender shade flatters any and every skin tone and has a creamy and velvety texture. (I really liked this highlighter, I applied it to my eyelids, the middle of my lips and the apple of my cheeks, LOL and it gave me that nice glowy look. I did add some highlighter on my browbone, and on the bridge of my nose to make it appear more narrow, and on each side of my nostrails to make it appear brighter.)

Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish: Color; I Give Good Tweet Robin’s Egg Blue -Going above and beyond much of the competition, these super shiny formulas are 10-free. (Yes, 10!) Equally fab, the brand is vegan and cruelty-free. Plus all the shade names will make you LOL. I Give Good Tweet, a robin’s egg blue, is fresh and fun, no matter the season or the occasion. (This polish was very good and lasted a few days before any signs of fading. The color was sheer looking but you can apply an extra coat or two if you don’t like it sheer. The blue is not my color, I didn’t like it but I did like the polish. Will use my 30% code and get my fav color purple.)

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination™ Anti-Aging Concealer: Color: Neutral Medium –Works well covering up complexion imperfections and hiding dark circles. It’s full-coverage and a completely waterproof formula, a must-have for early mornings or late nights. (O… M… G… This was magic for me, it was very thick and creamy a little hard to blend in at first. But then realize that applying a few tiny dots made it a lot easier to blend I am definitely going out and buying this. As you will notice in my picture below I separated it so you can see it more, one side I have the concealer, of course, I have foundation, primer, etc and on the other side no concealer or foundation. Also, it was hard to just put lipstick on one side of my lips so I put them on both, lol.)

Hikari Cosmetics Cream Pigment Eye Shadow: Color; Latte -High pigment, easy to blend, long-lasting eye shadow. Brush it on for a bold metallic shadow, swipe on with your fingertips for a messier smoky look, or use a liner brush and create a gleaming cat eye. (I loved this color on my skin it was perfect and just a tiny bit will make your eye dazzle. One the left side I didn’t put a lot and blended it with a light shade not to make it so deep, and on the right side I just put on eyeshadow seeing how deep and rich you can make it look this Latte color look.)

BeFine Food Skin Care Gentle Face Cleanser: This brand’s formulas are completely vegan and packed with good-for-your-skin, natural ingredients: Peppermint Oil, Leaf Extract, Oat Bran Extract, Rice Bran Proteins, Sugar Cane Extract, and Wheat Amino Acids. (This felt so good on my face, and the peppermint was tingling so it was refreshing I liked it a lot.)

OK, SOOOOOOO Ipsy heard my cries, lol and gave me my IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination™ Anti-Aging Concealer!!! YAY, I complained about it on my last review for my January glam bag.  This bag was pretty decent, the Hikari eyeshadow was a little on the cheap side was hoping for a much bigger sample, but hey a girl can’t complain right lol. Now the polish not my cup of tea, I would of prefer the Latte hands down this robin’s egg blue, is not for me. But I pretty much like everything else I got!

January Birch Box Review

I know I am late in posting my January review I had posted it on my facebook page, and Instagram but forgot to post it here… So here it is the theme for January was New Year New You!

This month, #Birchbox samples that will help us along in the new year. With the goal to make 2017 the best year yet.? Do you want to be a new and improved version of you? According to them these beauty products are all about self-improvement and taking care of yourself!.

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner: This London-based brand’s liquid liner lets you create mod looks in a flash. Rather than frustrating us with a hard-to-control brush tip, it features a pen-style applicator that’s completely goof proof, allowing you to control the thickness of the line you create and vary the intensity of your look. Plus, the fade-proof formula will hold up all day and night. –Says it is smudge proof, hmm not true. After an hour I looked in the mirror and looked like I had raccoon eyes. I got a full-size version with my Ipsy so this was disappointing to get.

Pixi by Petra Glow Tonic To-Go: The word “tonic” makes us think of magic potions—and these multitasking treatment pads soaked with Glow Tonic don’t disappoint. Featuring 5% glycolic acid (a chemical exfoliator), they tone, firm, and tighten skin while also removing dead skin cells. Alcohol-free and gentle enough for all skin types, the soothing formula uses aloe, ginseng, and other botanicals to make dullness disappear—all in a single swipe. -These pads were an exciting thing for me to try. However, I didn’t feel like it cleaned as well as it should have. But the sample only consisted of 2 cleansing pads which are not enough to tell whether it helped my skin or not.

PARLOR® by Jeff Chastain Moisturizing & Repairing Shampoo: This gently cleansing shampoo from NYC stylist Jeff Chastain is a triple-threat of fortification, hydration, and repair. Infused with the brand’s signature scent of ripe peach, fresh cut grass, and white woods, it’s sulfate-free, paraben-free, gluten-free, and color-safe. -My hair is really dry and damaged from coloring and heat styling but this shampoo felt great on my hair. It clarifies and cleaned it well, and it didn’t weigh my hair down afterward.

PARLOR® by Jeff Chastain Moisturizing & Repairing Conditioner: This nutrient-rich conditioner from PARLOR® by Jeff Chastain moisturizes and repairs damaged hair without weighing it down. Infused with the brand’s signature scent of ripe peach, fresh cut grass, and white woods, it’s sulfate-free, paraben-free, gluten-free, and color-safe. -I love the smell of this Jeff Chastain, Parlor conditioner. I love that its sulfate and paraffin free as I have color treated hair. It made my hair very soft without being greasy the next day. I love conditioner samples but this came in a small foil pack which was only enough for one application so disappointing.

Evologie® Intensive Blemish Serum: The serum penetrates the skin and goes straight to the source to eliminate trapped bacteria, dirt, and oil and restore damaged skin. It clears up pimples quickly and gently without irritating or drying up your complexion, which could actually lead to more oil production and blemishes. The patent-pending YS3 Complex delivers blemish-banishing ingredients, like tea tree oil, salicylic acid, and willow bark, beneath the skin’s surface to reduce inflammation and clear up redness. Bonus: The serum also tackles surface scars and hyperpigmentation. -I normally don’t get a lot of pimples, maybe 1-2 every month more if I’m stressed. I recently saw a pimple and I dab a bit of this serum on it and it just dried up with 2 days. I’ve started to use it each time I feel a pimple is about to form, and the next day or two it’s no longer there so I highly recommend this.

Number 4™ Super Comb Prep & Protect: As self-confessed blow dryer addicts, we put our hair through a lot. To keep our strands from a meltdown, we use this leave-in conditioning mist. It doesn’t just protect hair from heat damage, it also doubles as a color protector and UV shield. The sulfate-free formula has a pretty floral scent thanks to white freesia, amber, and musk, and natural conditioners like black currant and soy yogurt restore hydration. -It’s a bit on the pricey end but so still on the fence on whether it’s worth it or not. It does have a pleasant soft scent. It leaves your hair soft, shiny and looking brand new. It worked great and left my hair a little curlier than usual when my hair dried.

Milk Makeup Highlighter: Celebrities and musicians have professional lighting and teams of makeup artists to give them an all-over glow 24/7. Lucky for us, we have something way more portable. Sweep on this flattering head-to-toe highlighter wherever you need subtle, dewy sheen. Hydrating ingredients like mango butter, peach nectar, and avocado oils will quench skin all day long. Bonus: Milk Melt Technology means the product melts on contact for easy application, no brushes required. -I really liked the way it glides on easily, the texture was smooth. Give you a subtle yet pretty glow.

Walmarts Winter Beauty Box

So, this review is for the Classic (For those over 35) which I will say that’s me… I guess the Trendsetter is for the younger ladies. Maybe Walmart’s way of saying well since your older will give you products for the lines and wrinkles, lol.

Dove Go Fresh Nutrium Body Wash: I normally just use the regular one, but I like this Nutrium version. The mandarin & tiare flower scent smells delicious.

Dove Advanced Cared Nutrium Moisturizer Deodorant: I normally used dove deodorants so this was a plus for since and I like that it’s small so I keep it in my purse you never know

Curel HydraTherapy Wet Skin Moisturizer: I love these types of moisturizers for my skin, they help to keep my dry skin moisturized. It does say that it gets absorbs instantly but it felt like I still had the film of it on when done. I didn’t want to towel dry most of the product off, so I just wrapped the towel around me and basically air dry so to speak. But that won’t work when I don’t have that time in the mornings. Comes with a $4 off coupon so that’s an awesome deal.

Ponds Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream: I’m excited that I got anti-wrinkle cream, because I surely need it. But leaves an almost type of greasy feel to it so I will just use it at night before going to bed. Also has a baby smell to it like a Johnsons and Johnsons baby lotion. It uses an AHA to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara: I really liked this mascara it was cheap and really did give volume to my eye lashes. I have thin and sparse lashes so once I put this on felt like I had fake lashes. This alone costs $6 so it was a super deal getting this beauty box for just $5.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Yogurt Lotion: This smells amazing vanilla and oats. I just want to eat this lotion. It’s thick and left my skin a bit sticky but when I used it again I just used less of it, and I was fine.

Aveeno Absolutely Ageless Restorative Night Cream: This smells pleasant, no strong odor and the next day my face feels soft and smooth. I really like it a lot, will be buying when I’m done with it since a little goes a long way.

The box included a $1.50 off coupon for Everpros Gray away root concealer, a $4 off coupon for Curel, three $1 off coupons for Instyle, People, and StyleWatch magazines, and a scratch n sniff for the new Aveeno scent (apricot & honey).

January Target Beauty Box Review

This is for the Target January Beauty Box 1 – which originally was $10, but marked down to $7 with free shipping. Also, the box came with a $3 off a $15 beauty purchase coupon so thank you Target since there are a few of those samples that I like. I’m glad I didn’t pass on it this month, but it does sell out quick sometimes within a day or even hours. Also, if you have a Target REDcard holder, you’ll get 5% off this box. Target does limit the Beauty Box to 1 purchase per order so that more customers can enjoy the benefits.

In this latest Target Beauty Box, you’ll find a few products to refresh your beauty regimen for the new year. The actual value of this box is estimated to be at over $35. So, check it out and tell me what you think. You will be able to find the full-sized versions at Target I will provide the links next to each description. Okay, so let’s get to the review of this box… So, all in all, I give this box a 4.5 out of 5 stars!!

  • eb5 original skin care facial cream (travel size) – eb5’s original skin care facial cream, proven gentle and effective for over 60 years. It delivers intense moisture and gives you healthier, younger looking skin. I have been using this for a week now and I love the way it makes my face feel soft and smooth. This might be something I will consider buying.
  • Chapstick Total Hydration Lip Scrub (full size)– Chapstick Total Hydration Lip Scrub exfoliates and conditions your lips, making them perfectly soft and smooth. It uses naturally sourced ingredients, including vitamin E and coconut oil. I get chapped lips in the winter, so I have been using this and love the way it makes my lips feel. I normally use Mary Kays satin lips but now will be using this as it’s way cheaper!!!
  • Nexxus Comb Thru Hairspray (travel size) – Nexxus Comb Thru Hairspray offers beautiful lift and volume without the stickiness. It’s designed to work with all hair types. I have thinning hair, but also curly and I have used to a couple of times just to try to see if it was true of the no stickiness and if it gives the volume well it does give volume the stickiness I couldn’t really tell because I have been using Devacurl defining gel and some of the products are sticky.
  • Revlon Kiss Balm (full size) – Revlon Kiss Balm contains a non-greasy, SPF 20 hydrating formula infused with natural fruit oils to deliver softer, smoother, kissable lips with sheer juicy color. I didn’t like the color it didn’t match my skin tone, but I did love the feel on my lips the color wasn’t bold or sticky it gave a nice sheer color.
  • Amlactin Moisturizing Body Lotion (travel size)– Amlactin Moisturizing Body Lotion uses clinically proven 12% lactic acid, pH-balanced for the skin, to boost skin’s natural renewal process and reveal softer, smoother skin. On a side note, there is also a $1.50 off coupon, or $3.00 off coupon if you share the link to social media. Ok, this I love I have been using especially on my elbows because I have ashy dry elbows and on my hands. The dryness has been getting better so I will definitely be using the $3 off coupon I got, plus combining it with the $3 off Target coupon win-win for me.
  • Beautiful Nutrition Lemon Rinse Gentle Clarifying Treatment (travel size) – Beautiful Nutrition Lemon Rinse Gentle Clarifying Treatment removes product buildup to return your hair to its natural glory. It’s paraben free and cruelty-free. I love this rinse, wow I need to get other products in this line to see if it will help as I said my hair is thinning and curly but it’s also dry, damaged, and breaking years of flat ironing, and heat appliances.
  • Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Day Lotion (travel size) – Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Day Lotion revitalizes dry skin, leaving your skin feeling soft and supple while helping reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I haven’t tried this yet as I was trying the eb5 facial anti-aging cream but I will update once I finish that one and start using this one.

Piece of Cake -Cake / Pie Slicer

So I saw this cake slicer on an ad video and thought what a really unique idea I need to get something like this its perfect… Then by luck, I was offered the chance to review it a few days later. How awesome was that, like it was meant to be lol. Now normally I just cut a cake with a regular butter knife or a pie slicer, and I’m sure that I’m not the only one that always winds up with cake frosting on their hands. I always make a mess and have to wipe off frosting off the knife. So whoever design this cake pie slicer is brilliant, I love that you can hold it without getting your cake frosting in your hands.

Also, there is also NO CHANCE of cutting yourself as it’s made with a firm flexible silicone food grade material. Which is totally weird because although it’s not sharp enough to cut you, it is enough to be able to cut into a cake. So this was a perfect slicer to use with my 5-year-old grandson because he can cut a piece of cake and I don’t have to worry about him getting cut. It only came in a lime green color that I could see, would be nice if it came in other color options. It is just under 11 inches in length, 1.5 inches at its widest point, and 1 inch towards the thinner part.

It was shipped the day I ordered it but took Fed Ex 5 extra days… Even thou per Prime through Amazon it was 2-day shipping…  Now I only gave it 4 stars because it still has some minor flaws, the cake doesn’t always come out easily. Sometimes it’s hard to grab the slice of cake, and the cake slices are much smaller that although for me it’s perfect my growing waist line, but others might not see that as a good thing. Also, some people complain of the weird shape but I don’t think it’s a big deal.

Also, a bonus that came with this slicer that I loved was the ebook with many different types of cheesecake recipes… YUMMY, the cheesecake in the example came from the recipe, even though we overcooked it lol. The cakes were cute and small as I had my 5-year-old grandson helping me bake and cut them as well. I know that they don’t look like the best cake ever but my grandson wanted to do the cake on his own, so all I could do was give him direction, and watch over him while I baked the cornbread cake. Now because of this ebook for recipes, I added that star back bringing this review back to 5 🎂s.

Please check out the video on youtube, and hopefully hit the 👍🏻 up!! My video review on the cake slicer
